Obituary for Mary L. Hoepf

Mary L. Hoepf, 94, of Republic, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the Tiffin Mercy Hospital.

Mary was born on November 2, 1925 in Tiffin, to the late Raymond and Remah (Phelps) Gase. She married Walter A. Hoepf on September 28, 1946 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and he survives in Republic.

Survivors include her children, Shirley (Gerald) Bumb of Sycamore, Linda (Dale) Schroeder of Shelby, Sandra Benner of Republic, Connie (John) Powell of Republic, Stephen (Darlene) Hoepf of Republic, Theresa (Michael) Hoerig of Tiffin, Diane (Michael) Watson of Marion, Miriam (Lazaro Jr.) Garcia of Green Springs, Mark (Laura) Hoepf of Sycamore, Bryan (Valerie) Hoepf of Republic, Gary (Dawn) Hoepf of Republic, Tracy (Brent) Hogue of Bellevue, Michell (Kevin) Nedolast of Shelby, a son-in-law Gary Michalkiewicz of Swanton, thirty-nine grandchildren and fifty-eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis Hoepf in 1982, a daughter Tammy Michalkiewicz in 2014, a grandson, Derrik Hoepf, great-grandsons, Cooper and Carson, three brothers, Robert, Harold, and Donald Gase and two sisters, Florence Fruth and Bernita Brickner.

Mary was a hardworking farm wife & loving mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great grandma. She was very proud of the family her and Walter created. She loved being surrounded by her huge family. Mary was active in St Aloysius church and a 4-H advisor. A seamstress and avid quilter, she continued to quilt up until her death. Over the years she made countless clothes for her family and hundreds of hand quilted quilts, throws, wall hangings, table runners, & pillows for family and friends. A woman of great faith and the HEART of our family she will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin with the Rev. Joseph Syzbka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR. 19 Bloomville. Burial will follow the Mass on Saturday, at Farewell Retreat cemetery in Republic.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
