Gerald J. “Gerry” Ruffing, 68, of Attica, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the James Cancer Center in Columbus after a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Gerry was born in Willard, on July 21, 1953 to the late Wilbur and Martha (Schreiner) Ruffing. He married the love of his life, Marlene (Larimer) Ruffing in Attica on March 2, 1991. Together Gerry and Marlene created a beautiful family.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Marlene of Attica, children, Heather (Frank) Carter of Attica, Taylor (Taylor) Wright of Gahanna, Jill (Joe) Stanley of Republic, Abby Daniel of Norwalk, eleven grandchildren, MaKenna, Jaxon, Ashlee, Ryleigh, Reigan, Gage, Elliott, Asya, Brielle, Lyric and Justice, three brothers, William (Susan) Ruffing of Attica, Robert (Janet) Ruffing of Republic, Dennis (Diana) Ruffing of Republic and a sister, Paula (Curtis) Karr of Attica.
Gerry was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jason Ruffing.
Gerry retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Willard in 2013 and was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica. He was also of member of the Attica American Legion Post 260, Attica Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and the Attica Fair Board. He enjoyed the Cleveland Indians and Browns, camping at Tall Timbers, watching NASCAR and will be remembered as being a Master Griller. Gerry was a 1971 graduate of Attica High School and was an Air National Guard Veteran.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica with the Rev. Joseph Joseph officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, from 2-5 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville with a prayer service being held at 5:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services on Monday, at St. Peter and Paul cemetery in Attica.
