Survivors include his wife, Jessie S. Alspach, his two sons, Matthew Gurney of Maumee and Ryan (Erica) Gurney of Findlay, three grandchildren Tyler Gurney, Megan Gurney, and Ethan Gurney, his sister Diane (Jeff) Weaver of Clyde, and nephew Richard “Rich” (Denyce) Weaver. John is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents Richard L. Alspach Sr. and Doris G. (Heyman) Alspach, as well as his two brothers, Richard L. (Dickie) Alspach Jr. and William (Bill) C. Alspach.

John was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran who served as an infantryman and as a mechanized infantryman. John was the owner and operator of Dick and John’s Car Dealership in 1971 which later turned into Cartown Motors and eventually Cartown Marine, where he was also operator and owner and where he later retired from.

John had many hobbies and interests, some of which he was known best for were his love of the game horse shoes and bowling, and his love of guns.
