Ralph Eugene "Gene" Nagel

Ralph Eugene “Gene” Nagel, 83, of Attica, passed away at 1:44 p.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at the Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.

Gene was born on March 26, 1937, in Attica, to the late Conrad and Ruth (Williams) Nagel. He married Connie R. (Swartzmiller) in Attica on April 15, 1956 and she preceded him in death on October 23, 2013.

Survivors include his three sons, Thomas Nagel of Attica, Timothy (Tanya) Nagel of Bloomville, Todd (Amy) Nagel of Attica, a daughter, Tami (Marvin) Diehm of Attica, eleven grandchildren, Angie (Pat) Gaietto, Jeremy Roop, Tiffany (Jeremy) Snavely, Megan (David) Donaldson, Logan (Christina) Nagel, Joey (Leah) Diehm, Billy and Johnny Diehm, Haley (Colton) Carrick, Katlyn (Jeremy) Dutko and Braden (Mackenzie) Nagel, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Joyce Nagucki of Toledo, Irene Schiefer of Attica and a special relative, Pork Swartzmiller of Bellevue.

Gene first worked at the B&O Railroad then later for GTE and also worked as a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica. Gene was a Past-President of the Seneca East Board of Education and a 1955 graduate of Attica High School. Gene himself was personally involved in 4-H, Sports and Tractor Pulling then enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren do the same. Gene was an FFA State Farmer and also made the State Track Meet while he was in High School. Gene was also an avid Cleveland Browns, Indians and OSU Sports Fan.

A masked funeral service for Gene will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica with Pastor Edward Hunker officiating. A masked walk through visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, from 2-5 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville and guests are asked to pay their respects and exit without lingering. Burial will follow the services on Monday, at Attica-Venice cemetery.
