Richard Miller Obituary

Richard J. Miller, 87, of Attica, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.

Richard was born May 2, 1935, in Fremont, to the late Wilber E. and Gertrude (Meyer) Miller. He married Gail (Blaskis) on September 1, 2007 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica and she survives in Attica.

Other survivors include three daughters, Tami (Fred) Furlong of Delaware, Denisa Cellar of Worthington, Michelle Miller of Delaware; a son, Michael (Elisa) Miller of Texas; seven grandchildren, Caitlin (Anthony) Filipski, Kelsey Furlong, Margaret, John and Claire Cellar, Kerri Reece and Maisen Machiusi; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Raymond, Nora and Joey Filipski; a sister, Ruth Ackerman and a brother Roger (Cathy) Miller both of Fremont; many beloved step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; the mother of his children, Carolyn Schlea and their infant son, Steven; his second wife, Donna and his son-in-law, Roger Cellar.

Richard was a retired Ohio State Highway Patrolman and was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica. Richard enjoyed Muskie fishing, raising roller pigeons, round dancing, gardening, and hunting. A 1954 graduate of Fremont St. Joseph Catholic High School, he was a United States Air Force Veteran. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the National Birmingham Roller Pigeon Club where he achieved status of Master Flyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica, with Rev. Joseph P. Joseph officiating. A Rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at church. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 3-7:00 p.m., at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville. Burial will follow the services on Tuesday, at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Millersville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hope Parish.
