Ruth L. Braley

Ruth L. Braley, age 91, of Republic, Ohio, passed away on February 11th, 2021.

Ruth was born on April 3rd, 1929 in Fostoria, to the late Vernon F. and Luella (Shock) Breighner.

She married James E. Braley on October 23, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Republic, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 2011 after 62 loving and adventurous years of marriage. Ruth and Jim enjoyed camping. In their retirement years they enjoyed traveling in their motor home covering nearly every US state.  Ruth's love though was being with her family. She enjoyed sharing holidays, and rarely missed attending her grandchildren's school and sporting events.

She was a 1947 graduate of Scipio Republic High School and retired from General Electric in Bellevue after 28 years of service.

Ruth was a member of Republic United Church of Christ, a past member of the Republic Lady Lions, Rebecca Circle, Republic Senior Citizens and Cornelia Chapter #93 Order of the Eastern Star.

She was the beloved mother to her daughters, Ruth “Rea” (Jim) Spotts of Republic and Roberta “Rob” (Fred) Howard of Tiffin. Adored grandmother of her four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, Matthew (Jodi) Schwab and their children; Cadi, Avery and Baylee Schwab, Gregory (Karen) Schwab, Carissa (Eric) Boeser and their children; Garett (Shelby), Olivia, Travis Boeser and Rachel (John) Engelhart, Steven (Charla) Spotts and their children; William and Quinton Spotts. Her littlest lights, great-great grandchildren; Keller Haney and Hudson Boeser and Roy and Jack Engelhart.

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 for Ruth and her husband, James E. Braley, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2011. Services will be held at the Republic United Church of Christ. Fellowship will begin at 10:30 in the Fellowship Hall, with all proceeding to the sanctuary at 11:00a.m. for service officiated by Rev. Darla Metz. Burial will follow the services at Farewell Retreat Cemetery. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
