Susan K. Shade

Susan Kay Shade, 74, of Attica, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at her residence.

Susan was born on December 9, 1947, in Willard, to the late Robert E. and Ruth E. (Wolfe) Hornett. She married Ernest Leroy Shade Jr. in Attica on October 10, 1970 and he survives in Attica.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Susan) Shade of Virginia Beach and Michelle (Jason) Hoepf of Republic, three grandchildren, Kyle Hoepf of Republic, Alex Shade Virginia Beach, Thomas (Sydney) Leal of Charleston, SC, a brother-in-law, Dennis Shade of Attica and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Hornett also of Attica.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert K. Hornett.

Susan retired in 2007 from Sutton Bank after 40 years. She was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Attica and was a 1965 graduate of Attica High School. Susan was also a member of the Attica American Legion Auxiliary the Attica Historical Society, Allen Eiry Senior Center, Attica Grange, State Grange and was a 4-H Advisor. Susan was a NASCAR and Indy racing fan and a collector of light houses and anything Rusty Wallace.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Attica. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, from 4-7 p.m., at the Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be follow the services on Saturday, at Attica Venice Cemetery.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Attica American Legion Ladies Auxiliary or to the charity of the donor's choice.
